Stationer Appointments & Ordering

  • Appointments Though we don’t require an appointment to come in and browse, we strongly suggest you schedule one to ensure that a consultant will  give you the undivided attention you deserve.
  • Ordering Your Wedding Invitations The process of ordering wedding invitations can be somewhat daunting, but we’re here to help.  The following are some basic guidelines that we hope will help you understand how custom invitations are created.
Here are a few answers to common questions about invitations:
  • What do y’all do? The Stationer creates and designs wedding invitations, response cards and envelopes, Save the Dates, rehearsal dinner invitations, social stationery, ceremony programs, thank you notes, announcements,  napkins, cups and nearly any printed material you need for your wedding day.
  • What do I need to start my order?
Inspiration. Start by browsing our Lookbooks, and then come in to see our past designs. (We also have a Pinterest with tons of images that inspire us as well!) We can adjust any of our past designs to suit your needs, and can design something completely custom if you have a specific idea.
Budget. Let us know the look that you want and that magic number you want to stay under, and we will do whatever we can to accommodate both.
Wording. We encourage you to think about the wording of your invitation before you come in.
Quantity. It helps us price out your order if you have a general idea of how many cards you’ll need. Wedding invitations go to households, so please be mindful of couples, singles and singles with a plus one.
  • When should I start my order? We suggest that you start the printing process about 3 months out (please note that some take longer), so start looking for what you’d like 5-6 months before your wedding. Save The Dates are typically sent 6 months before the wedding. Of course, we can always expedite your order for an additional cost.
Ok, you’ve found what you like. What’s next?
  • Proof. We work on a proof and approval process for invitations and cards. Once you finalize the style, artwork, wording and quantity of the invitation or card, then a proof can be generated.
  • The proof will come to you via e-mail from The Stationer. Typically it will be viewable from a link provided by the vendor. We accept additions and corrections by fax or email only, as this allows us to keep a written record of progress for your job.  If you’d like to come in to see it, we can gladly schedule an in-store appointment where you meet with a Stationer representative to go over your changes.
  • We ask that you do not review proofs from your smart phone. A proof viewed on a computer screen will provide a far better understanding of the piece.
We’re proofed! It’s perfect! I’m ready!
  • Approval. We accept approval for wedding invitations via email, fax or an in-store appearance.  You must print out the version of the invitation you are approving and sign the proof, then submit via email fax or an in-store appearance. After we receive a signed proof, anything past this point The Stationer is not responsible for. While we do the best we can, you are ultimately your best spell-checker!
  • At this time we will also need payment for half of the amount of the total cost of the invitation.
How soon do I get my invitations after approved?
  • It depends! Depending on the dealer, invitations will arrive back at the store anywhere from two weeks to a month after printing. Receiving envelopes early for addressing is always an option, but can be subject to an additional charge.
  • We provide complementary stuff and stamping. Postage is provided by the customer.
  • Calligraphy and hand addressing services are available. Please call or come in to the store for more information.
